What to remember
Stopping and parking are different legal concepts, but in both cases the vehicle must not block visibility or obstruct others. Vehicles normally stop and park on the right side of the road, on the shoulder or at the edge of the carriageway, while the left side is permitted in certain conditions. Stopping is prohibited, for example, on a pedestrian crossing and within less than 5 m before it, on the intersection of carriageways and within 5 m of its edge, and where the free space between the vehicle and a solid line or central reservation is less than 3 m.
